Direct Reports: Associate, Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Mechanical Designer
Purpose of Job: The Principal will lead a team in collaboration with the leadership group towards achieving the company’s strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Below is a list of the key duties and responsibilities for this role. Tasks may change as business needs evolve. The specific responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain a client success score in alignment with the company’s strategic plan.
- Ensure projects are profitable according to the company’s strategic plan.
- Secure work annually in line with the standards to sustain the team’s backlog.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to all members
- Uphold QA/QC standards across the team and produce at least five technical guidance documents per year.
- Engage in independent learning to enhance skills and career development, as per the company’s HR Manual and professional requirements.
- Manage team account collections and payables in accordance with the company’s standards.
- Build and sustain both new and existing client relationships.
- Participate in the ownership transition strategy.
- Establish a presence in the industry and sector served by the team through community, industry, and educational involvement.
- Write one technical article annually for the company or an engineering publication.
- Attend a minimum of two relevant conferences annually.
- Prepare and deliver three presentations annually, either internally, to clients, or at conferences.
- Attend the annual Leadership Meetings twice a year (Spring and Fall).
- Meet the following minimum targets (subject to increase based on team capacity and inflation):
- Annual Revenue Target: $1,500,000
- Annual New Work Target: $1,875,000
- Annual Profit Target: Minimum 10%
Requirements
Summary of Qualifications:

Education, Licenses and/or Certification, Experience Required
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Registration and good standing with a relevant professional body (e.g., P. Eng.).
- At least 10 years of experience in the engineering industry, emphasizing team management, business development, and client relationship management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Current knowledge of technical advancements in the engineering field.
- Strong skills in analysis, communication, and report writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with employees, clients, colleagues, and municipal agencies.
- Proven ability to handle multiple assignments and manage conflicting priorities.
- Capacity to make sound engineering decisions and judgments.
Effort and Working Conditions
Physical environment requirements: General Office Work.
Mental/sensory effort requirements:
- Work involves moderate amounts of mental and visual demands, including computer operation and concentration.
